Anti-Life Bills Are Unconstitutional

This article probably won't get much mileage in the mainstream press, so I'm posting it here.

Repro health bills unconstitutional, morally unacceptable, says Capiz diocese
http://www.cbcpnews.com/?q=node/4292

ROXAS CITY, August 19, 2008—The controversial reproductive health bills pending in Congress are unconstitutional and morally unacceptable, according to a pastoral letter released by the Archdiocese of Capiz.

"We strongly condemn this reproductive health bill as an outright violation of the fundamental rights of men, women, children and families enshrined in our Philippine Constitution and a blatant opposition to our moral principles as a Christian nation," said Capiz Archbishop Onesimo C. Gordoncillo in a pastoral letter read in all churches.

The consolidated bills are House Bill 17 (Responsible Parenthood and Population Development), HB 812 (The Reproductive Care Act) and HB 2753 (The Women's Right to Know and Act), with Representative Edcel Lagman as the principa...

Time for Integrity

The newspapers, and especially their columnists, are having a field day writing about Ozamis Archbishop Jesus A. Dosado’s decision to deny Catholic politicians who are pro-abortion and pro-artificial contraception the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Some writers caution of a backlash, warning that decision appears too confrontational, and others seem sympathetic to the affected legislators, as if they were the underdogs. Some would even praise them for taking a principled stand.

But just how principled a stand is that of these politicians? And are the other considerations even relevant? Let’s examine the situation at hand.

Integrity

We are all sinners and are guilty of not living up to all our beliefs. It would seem, however, that these Catholic politicians have radically disconnected their faith from their actions. They claim membership in a Church that emphatically teaches one very fundamental tenet, and then openly announce their support for — and will work to bring about — the opposi...

Railroading a Deadly Agenda

Imagine a doctor or heatlh worker being sentenced to a prison term simply because he or she refused to prescribe -- or refer someone who would -- an abortifacient "contraceptive". Imagine being fined and jailed for staying true to your pro-life convictions. Could that ever happen in the Philippines?

Well it just might if the latest "reproductive health" bill is passed!

The bill, known as the "Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2007", has a number of highly objectionable provisions. Here are just a few of them:

Section 9 (Hospital-Based Family Planning) specificially subsidizes the use of IUDs (specifically insertion of the device in a hospital). The IUD is NOT a contraceptive. It is an ABORTIFACIENT. The IUD does not prevent ovulation. Rather, it works by affecting the uterine wall so that it prevents a fertilized ovum -- which is already a human being -- from implanting. The Philippine Constitution specifically protects human life from the ...

Planned Parenthood's Racist Abortions

In these videos, a donor asks if it is possible to donate money for an explicitly racist purpose (such as reducing the number of black children in a community). The Planned Parenthood employees inform the donors that this is definitely possible and gladly accept the donations.

Here are the links to some of these videos.

Planned Parenthood Racism Investigation Part I: Idaho.

Planned Parenthood Racism Investigation Part II: Oklahoma and New Mexico (In Part II there's a clip of Barack Obama thanking Planned Parenthood!)

The videos were made by Live Action Films.
Speaking Out Against the Culture of Death

More people are speaking out against the disgusting pro-abortion advocacy of Rina Jimenez-David's column in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Jimenez-David has been sinking further into the depths of the Culture of Death. There was a time when she would not openly advocate for abortion, preferring to avoid uttering any outright condemnation of it. But now it seems she has lost even that pretense.

Below is the text of a letter sent ot the Editor of the Inquirer. It's message should not be lost on us. The next victims of the Culture of Death could be our own yet-to-be-born relatives.

The Editor
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Makati City

Dear Editor,

Rina Jimenez-David, after using the American pro-abortion mantra “Reproductive Rights” for years, has finally come out explicitly in favor of abortion by approvingly quoting Mexican sociologist Roberto Blancarte on March 19, “The ability of women . . .to end an undesired pregnancy goes hand in hand with the existence of a lay state that gua...

Day of the Unborn (March 31)

Pro-life groups are celebrating the Day of the Unborn on March 31. It will also be the Feast of the Annunciation. Both events should actually be on March 25, but since March 25 falls within the Easter Week, this year the Church postponed the Feast of the Annunciation to March 31. Many pro-life groups have chosen to do likewise with the Day of the Unborn.

March 25 was declared the Day of the Unborn through Proclamation 586, signed last March 24, 2004. The text of Proclamation 586 is as follows:

“Whereas, pregnancy is a physiologic process that has certain risks because not all pregnancies lead to the birth of a live and healthy child,

Whereas, almost three percent (3%) of total fetal deaths have been registered due to the effect of maternal health and nutrition and socio-behavioral factors on the eventual outcome of pregnancy;

Whereas, to prevent and effectively manage complications of pregnancy and childbirth, it is necessary that quality and timely interventions before, du...

Attached is the schedule and program of the Second CineVita Film Festival, the pro-life film festival that Varsitarian, together with HLI and Pro-Life Phils.,launched last year. It's about abortion and was featured in the front page of Manila Times.
Contraceptives Can Cause Abortions

Most people probably aren't aware that many artificial contraceptives are actually abortifacient -- they can cause abortions.

This fact is usually not something birth control advocates want to talk about because of its very grave moral implications, not only for Catholics but for many non-Catholics and even agnostics and atheists as well. The Catholic Church has always been against abortion and artificial contraception, but many other groups allow artificial contraception while prohibiting abortion. Such groups would of course be very concerned if they were to realize that contraceptives are also abortifacient.

Basically, most contraceptives work by preventing ovulation and/or preventing the sperm from entering the fallopian tubes.

The problem, however, is that this doesn't always work. In fact, it doesn't work a significant portion of the time. Sometimes a woman ovulates -- known as "breakthrough ovulation" -- even when a women never fails to take a pill at the right time. It is esti...

Prolife Forum: The Hidden Agenda Behind the Death Bills

Is Reproductive Health really for health and reproduction? Is "Safe Sex" really safe? Find out the hidden agenda behind these social initiatives.

"It seems starkly clear that the legislators and policy makers pushing the anti-life, anti-family-anti-Church agenda are going to leave no stone unturned in order to ensure the passage of bills such as the Reproductive Health Bills within the term of the present Congress. In fact, they have already succeeded in working for the passage of numerous ordinances at the Local Government level.

If we remain complacent and lackadaisical, it is very probable that the Death Bills will pass in Congress and in local government

Preferred Murder Method

Land of Bondage, Land of the Free

Mark these words! Some of us remember this poem from school, some may have never seen it. Manglapus wrote it many years ago, but the ills it describes are with us still.

Everyday our people are downtrodden, sinking deeper into debt and growing weaker from hunger. The plunder of our national coffers, the bribing of our elected officials, the deception spewed out by our corrupt administration -- all these and more cannot go on forever.

Some day, enough Filipinos will refuse to take it anymore and will say ENOUGH! A day of reckoning is coming. What a terrible day that may be. May God help us all when that day comes.

Land of Bondage, Land of the Free

Once upon a time, the tao owned a piece of land. It was all he owned. But he cherished it, for it gave him three things, having which, he was content: life, first of all, and liberty, and happiness.

Then one day the Spaniard came and commanded him to pay tribute to the crown of Spain. The tao paid tribute. And he was silent — he w...

Moral Bankruptcy

The latest brouhaha about GMA' bribes to governors isn't surprising. It's something we've come to expect from this unbelievably corrupt administration. But it's about time we call a spade a spade -- and do so repeatedly until we rid ourselves of the rot.

I'm glad to see that the Catholic Church is speaking out. Anti-church pundits can scream "separation of church and state" all they want. They will only show that they don't know what that "separation" really means. The Church has a right -- a duty -- to speak out. And so do we.

Some interesting news:

CBCP tells execs: Admit Palace gift
'Our leaders are showing moral bankruptcy'
Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines -- Assailing the "moral bankruptcy" of national leaders, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines Tuesday called on other public officials to follow the lead of Pampanga Gov. Eddie Panlilio.

The CBCP, through its spokesperson Msgr. Pedro Quitorio, also expressed support for the Senate's plan to formally investigate the purported...
